Michael Charles Craig’s interest in furniture began early, as he learned fine craftsmanship working alongside gifted cabinetmakers. As his abilities developed, customers began seeking him out for original pieces. M.Craig Company formally began in 1972 in Columbia, South Carolina. Michael’s business partner and soon-to-be wife, Rosemarie (Rosie) MacFarlane joined the effort in 1980.
The M.Craig Company’s reputation began to grow. Exquisite beds, armoires, chests, and tables were consistently produced with a highly critical eye on quality and craftsmanship. Products like The Cotton Planter’s Collection, The Railroad Baron’s Bed, and the Deerfoot Chair are just a few examples of their notable work. Success continued, and included a commission to supply the desks and cabinetry for the South Carolina State House 1998 renovation. Soon M. Craig Company expanded capabilities to include custom, high-end cabinetry.
In February of 2009, RT London purchased M. Craig Company as a quality, domestic manufacturer in the southeast. RT London is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with an additional manufacturing location in Lacey, Washington. RT London was interested in finding a manufacturer that could help produce product in their current core markets, Higher Ed and GSA. M.Craig Company was the perfect fit.
Today, M.Craig Company is a fully-functioning facility of RT London. The qualities that fueled M. Craig’s success in the past contribute to the growing success of RT London: well-designed, quality furniture produced in America.
