Impressively noble, The Highlander Bed is a culmination of a five year dream of Michael Craig's. Reflecting the Romanseque and Gothic periods, where architecture laid the foundation of cultural growth and master builders and cabinetmakers were accorded previously unknown respect, the clean elegant lines of the bed posts are gracefully powerful, reminiscent of the soaring columns found in cathedrals and churches of this time. Being of Scottish descent, both Michael and Rosemarie cite the influence this time period had on architecture in England, Scotland and Ireland as the origination of the name, Highlander. With an emphasis on emotional expression, the Romanesque and Gothic movements embraced art and paved the way for the coming Renaissance. Made of solid black walnut with veneers on the headboard & footboard cut from the walnut stump, creating a very unusual and beautiful grain pattern. We are delighted to offer the following accompanying pieces for our walnut Highland Bed. |
