Recamier Bed
The classical lines of the Recamier Bed originate with the ancient Greeks. Grecian design has been revived countless times, and the Eighteenth century was one such time. As revolutions in America and France swept away the old monarchies and the conspicuous frivolity which accompanied them, people sought the enlightened yet elegant orderliness of the classics. One such person was Madame de Recamier, for whom this piece is named. An intellectual and a woman of great power and beauty, Juliett Recamier’s salon was visted by those at the pinnacle of Parisian society. A portrait of her reclining on her Grecian chase is considered a defining view of the era.
The Recamier Bed features a mahogany frame with brass inlays and mounts and is available in any standard size. Upholstery is executed in customer provided fabric. Please call for yardage requirements.
